StrongHands (SHMN) Masternode Setup Guide
on MedicCoin Masternode Hosting Platform

The guide shows you how to deploy a hot-cold wallet masternode of StrongHands (SHMN) on MedicCoin Masternode Hosting Platform without having to deal with servers, terminals or Linux within a few clicks. With the use of the platform technical knowledge is not a necessity, all you need is the collateral for the masternode you want to configure. The system automatically configures your masternode in a few steps with only basic information which you will be asked for during the setup and creates the masternode server for you in the background. In addition, you hold your StrongHands (SHMN) masternode collateral in your local wallet. The masternode collateral never touch MedicCoin Masternode Hosting Platform.

If you have at least (1,000 SHMN) and your account balance can cover at least 1 day of service, click Next button to continue the deployment.

      • 3.3.1. Creating collateral adddress and sending masternode collateral

If you already had collateral transaction hash (but haven't had masternode online yet), click "Next" to continue.

If you are migrating from another masternode hosting platform or your own VPS, please see migration instructions.

If this is your new masternode, follow the below instructions.

Create MN collateral adddress and send collateral coins
        • Open debug console from the top menu: Help (or Tools) -> Debug window -> Console
        • In Console, type getnewaddress MN_LABEL (where MN_LABEL is name of your choice, eg: MN1) then hit Enter. This generates a new address in your wallet with label as your choice. We will call this "collateral address"
        • Send exactly 1000 (no more, no less, in 1 transaction) to the collateral address you just generated above. If current version of your wallet has an option "Subtract fee from amount", make sure that it is NOT checked.
        • Copy transaction id (txhash), and click "Next" to continue.
      • 3.3.2. Masternode Migration Instructions

Skip this step if it isn't a new masternode.

To prevent losing rewards, you are advised to migrate your masternode in following cases:

        •   1. You just got a reward a few minutes ago. Because you are now in a long queue for next reward, it's right time to migrate now.
        •   2. Your masternode hosting or VPS down for over 60 minutes.
        •   3. Your masternode already disappeared from blockchain.

If you're ready to migrate now, see the below instructions.

        • Stop masternode on local wallet.
        • Stop masternode daemon / process on current masternode hosting or your own VPS. DO NOT delete / destroy the stopped masternode on current hosting platform or VPS until the migration is successful.
        • Wait for 75-80 minutes. Then check blockchain masternodes list. If your masternode disappears, click "Next" to continue.
    • 3.4. Masternode Configuration

You need to provide some information so the wizard can verify and provide proper local wallet setup instructions.

      1. Transaction ID: the transaction id of masternode collateral you have copied in the above steps or you have recorded it. If you don't find it, look up it on block explorer.
      2. MN Alias: optional but recommended for ease of management. If you don't provide it, the wizard will generate it for you.

Then click Next button to continue the deployment. The wizard will verify provided info, especially Collateral Transaction ID.

      • 3.5. Collateral Verification

The wizard will verify the provided Collateral Transaction ID. If the verification is successful, you will get some advices (actually warnings) like this:

        Success!
Transaction ID has been verified successfully
        • Click Next button to deploy masternode.
        • WARNING: the next process may take up to 30 minutes. Please be patient! Take some snacks and enjoy.
        • WARNING: DO NOT close browser or this window / tab.
        • WARNING: DO NOT refresh this page.

If the verification is failed, you will get error like this

        Error!
Transaction ID is not valid (or another status)

In this case, make sure that you provide the latest and correct masternode collateral transaction ID (txhash) then try again.

Then click Next button to continue the deployment.

    • 3.6. Masternode Deployment

For general purpose
Your masternode has been started on server. Please follow instructions below to start and control the masternode on your local wallet:
  • 1. Open masternode configuration file: Tools -> "Open Masternode Configuration File". If your wallet does not have this menu, find the file named masternode.conf in your wallet data directory:
    • * Windows: C:\Users\{YourUsername}\AppData\Roaming\\shmn
or enter %AppData%\\shmn in file explorer address bar.
    • * Mac: ~Library/Application Support/shmn
    • * Linux: ~/.shmn
If you don't see masternode.conf, create it.
  • 2. At the end of file, add a new row. Then copy the information that you get from step Deploy Masternode Instruction and paste into masternode.conf by format below:
    MN-Alias MN-IP:50005 MN_Priv_Key TX_ID TX_Index
You also can download config file in masternode management page.
  • 3. Save and close the masternode.conf file.
  • 4. Completely exit the wallet (File -> Exit) and start it again.
  • 5. Wait for the wallet to completely sync (progress bar at bottom disappears). Once your collateral transaction gets 15 confirmations, continue to the next step.
  • 6. Go to Masternodes section, select your masternode and click on Start (or Start alias). If the masternode started successfully, you're done. You can close this instruction.

In alternative you can use Console to start the masternode: Tools (or Help) -> Debug window -> Console, enter the command: masternode start-alias MN_Alias. Close the window after your masternode successfully starts.

If the start fails, try these solutions:
    • * If you encrypted the wallet, Un-lock wallet and start again.
    • * If you lock unspent the masternode collateral, Un-lock unspent the masternode collateral and start again.
    • * Check if your firewall denies outgoing connections to MN_IP:50005, allow outgoing connections to the IP:Port and start again.
    • * If the problem persists after the above solutions, contact us at discord.gg/sdZsHPY.
  • 7. That's it. Congratulations on your own masternode!
